Setting up a domain through GoDaddy

I find that GoDaddy has decent prices for domains and hosting. But up until today I never was too impressed with their website. I always thought for a company dealing in web services they should have a clean and quick site. But it seems they have finally upgraded their website!

I of course stumbled around for a while trying to figure out how to set-up a domain through GoDaddy.

What used to be a long drawn out process is now surprisingly quick. This walk through assumes that you have already purchased your domain through GoDaddy.

Step 1: Login to GoDaddy and select “Hosting” from the left menu.

Step 2: Scroll down the page and “launch” the control center for the hosting account.

Step 3: Select “Domains” at the top of the Hosting Dashboard.

Step 4: Under Domain Management select “Add Domain”

Step 5: Start typing the domain name in the domain box, it should produce a drop down containing the full name of the domain after a few characters. Then finally enter the folder where the domain should be stored. Note that you can browse to a preexisting folder or simply enter an unused folder name to have the new folder automatically created.

Step 6: Sit back and wait. The set-up should now be pending and when it’s completed you will be able to use your new domain.
